Envied by those who cannot attend, cherished by those who attend, and loved by its graduates, Benjamin Elijah Mays High School is the flagship institution in the City of Atlanta Public School System. Benjamin E. Mays High School was named in honor of Dr. Benjamin E. Mays, a humanitarian and international pioneer. In honor of this great educator, our academic foundation and world class athletic program is as solid as the rock of Gibraltar. We have been named the #1 high school in the Atlanta Public School System by the Georgia Department of Education.
Our learning structure is built on the premise that smaller is better. Therefore, we currently serve approximately 1800 students in 5 small learning communities. Our communities include the following: Science and Mathematics, Business & Entrepreneurship, Eagle Leadership, Dorothy Height Academy of Leadership, and Mass Communication.
