South Atlanta HMS

The South Atlanta School of Health and Medical Science is committed to the preparation of students for immediate entry into the workforce, higher education, careers in health sciences, biotechnology, and biomedical and scientific research.  The curriculum will provide an increased understanding of health and conditions which compromise health while seeking to promote lifelong learning among students and instilling a commitment to serve the communities where they live and work. 

The students at the South Atlanta School of Health and Medical Science will be provided with the best education toward achieving their goals with integrated technology in all classrooms, as well as field experiences that will help mold them into the excellent citizens of our next generation.

    South Atlanta vs. Douglass High School at Lakewood Stadium
     
    The South Atlanta Hornets will be hosting an Autism Awareness Night on Friday, August 29th during their home game against Douglass High School. 
     
     Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors. (source)
     
     Attendees are asked to wear a blue wristband along with the football team to show support. Kevin Hill, Head Football Coach is personally invested as he joins other parents and teachers of children affected by austism in welcoming families to the event. Speakers will be in attendance to share resources and information during the game.

    Senior Dues $200.00

    Payment Deadlines

    1st Payment           September 19, 2014           $70.00

    2nd Payment          October 10, 2014                                $65.00

    3rd Payment           November 7, 2014              $65.00

    If payment in full is not received by January 1, 2015 a late fee of $30.00 will be attached to your payment. 

    Payments must be made in the form of cash or money order ONLY.

    In order to be eligible for graduation and senior activities you must meet the following requirements:

  • Band Camp

    The SAEC “Marching Hornets” Summer Band Camp will begin on July 21, 2014  thru July 31,2014 @ 4:00pm Mon-Fri. This will include anyone that has an interest to participate or even learn how to play a wind or percussion musical instrument for this upcoming school  year in the marching band.

  • Infinite Campus Parent and Student Portal

    CPP Login Page:  https://ic.apsk12.org/portal

    Parents of students in grades K–12 have access to class schedules, attendance records and grades by Campus Portal for Parents (CPP) which is an easy-to-use, secure communications tool. Additionally, CPP enables parents to verify household information, including their email address, home address and telephone numbers.
    Contact your child’s school to get your CPP activation key. Parents are required to  request the CPP activation key in person. To ensure that all student information remains secure, parents must provide a valid photo ID (driver’s license, state ID card, or passport) before receiving the CPP activation key.  Once parents receive the activation key, they can visit https://ic.apsk12.org/portal to create a unique username and password.

  • Operating Models and School System Flexibility Options Flexgraphic

    Atlanta Public Schools will host Community Visioning Sessions across the district to inform and gather feedback from district stakeholders about the school system operating models and flexibility options outlined by the Georgia Department of Education.   • The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and students who are 18 years of age or older ("eligible students") certain rights with respect to the student's education records.  These rights include the right to provide written consent before the school discloses personally identifiable information (PII) from the student's education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without con­sent.

    One exception which permits disclosure without consent is disclosure to school officials with legitimate educational interests.  A school official is a person employed by the school as an ad­ministrator, supervisor, instructor, or support staff member (including health or medical staff and law enforcement unit personnel) or a person serving on the school board.  A school official also may include a volunteer or contractor outside of the school who performs an institutional service of function for which the school would otherwise use its own employees and who is under the direct control of the school with respect to the use and maintenance of PII from education records, such as an attorney, audi­tor, medical consultant, or therapist; a parent or student volunteering to serve on an official committee, such as a disciplinary or grievance committee; or a parent, student, or other volunteer assisting another school official in performing his or her tasks.  A school official has a legitimate educational interest if the official needs to review an educa­tion record in order to fulfill his or her professional responsibility.

    Also, upon request, the school discloses education records without consent to officials of another school district in which a student seeks or intends to enroll, or is already enrolled if the disclosure is for purposes of the student’s enrollment or transfer.
