Summer Internships
1. FOR GRADES 9 - 12:
The Research & Engineering Apprenticeship Program (REAP) is a summer STEM program that places talented high school students, from groups historically under-represented and under-served (see website for complete list of qualifications) in STEM, in research apprenticeships at area colleges and universities. REAP apprentices work under the direct supervision of a mentor on a hands-on research project. REAP apprentices are exposed to the real world of research, they gain valuable mentorship, and they learn about education and career opportunities in STEM.  Apprenticeships are 5 to 8 weeks and students receive a $1,500 educational stipend at the end of their experience.

2. FOR ONLY 11th & 12th GRADERS:
The High School Research Apprenticeship Program (HSAP) is a summer STEM program open to students who demonstrate an interest in STEM to work as an apprentice in an Army-funded university research laboratory.  HSAP is designed so that students can apprentice in fields of their choice with experienced scientists and engineers full-time during the summer or part-time during the school year.  Students receive an educational stipend equivalent to $10 per hour, land are allowed to work up to 300 hours total.

Both programs are commuter programs so students should apply to the university that is within driving distance.  Visit: (Apprenticeship category) to find out if there is a location near you.  Please apply ASAP, as spaces are limited and the application closes on FEBRUARY 15, 2017.

If you are not interested in either program, please visit to find out about SEAP, an apprenticeship program that is held at a Department of Defense Laboratory, as well as other programs.
