Meet Our Principal, Mrs. Yolonda C. Brown
Yolonda Brown has served as an educator for 21 years and as an elementary principal for 10 years. She successfully opened Springdale Park in 2009 as a new elementary school addition to the Atlanta Public Schools and the Historic Druid Hills Community. Prior to opening Springdale Park, Ms. Brown served as the Principal of C.W. Hill Elementary School, which served the Historic Old Fourth Ward Community.
During the first six years of her career in education, Ms. Brown served as a middle school teacher where she taught 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Science and Social Studies.In 1999, Mrs. Brown was selected as the Atlanta Public Schools District- Wide Middle School Teacher of the Year.Shortly after receiving this distinct honor, she was selected as a Model Teacher Leader Facilitator for the Atlanta Systemic Initiative and the Atlanta Public Schools School Reform Team.
Her pursuit and passion for educating children began at Clemson University where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. She received a Master’s Degree in Middle Grades Education from Mercer University Atlanta and her Instructional Supervision Endorsement and Educational Leadership Certification from Clark-Atlanta University. Additionally, she was selected to attend the 2011 Harvard University Graduate School of Education Institute for School Leadership.
Under her leadership, Springdale Park has become one of the top performing elementary schools in the Atlanta Public School District and has received numerous national, state and district level awards and recognition for academic achievement, health, wellness and environmental leadership.
Ms. Brown continues to enjoy her work with the Springdale Park/Grady Cluster Community.
