The next meeting of the Local School Council will be on May 6  at 4:00 in the CCC (Room C224). Parents, teachers, and community members are welcome to attend. 
 

Local School Council Elections

 

 

 

Elections for the Grady Local School Council will be held on Mon. May 12, 2014. The nomination period will be April 14 - 27, 2014. Nominations and statements of interest will be posted on the Grady website, in the Grady Gram, and outside the Grady main office April 28 - May 11, 2014. Nomination forms are available online (http://www.atlanta.k12.ga.us/Page/28336) and in the Grady main office. If you are interested in seeking a position on the LSC or know a qualified candidate, please complete the Nomination Form and submit to the Grady LSC Election Committee via email GradyLSC@gmail.com or place a hard copy of the Nomination Form in the Grady LSC nomination box in the Grady main office.

 

 

There are three seats open for election:

 

 

(1) Seat 2: parent representative 2-year term ending May 2016.

 

 

(2) Seat 3: parent representative 1-year term ending May 2015.

 

 

(3) Seat 5: parent/business representative 2-year term ending May 2016.

 

 


Membership terms begin immediately after the election. Newly elected Council members must attend orientation training prior to participating in Council meetings.

 

 

The criteria to qualify as a parent representative candidate is that one must be the parent of a currently enrolled Grady High School student who is listed on the student records, and have filed their nomination with the Election Committee no later than midnight on the last day of the nomination period. No parent representative candidate may be a relative of the principal or an employee of APS at Henry W. Grady High School or have been convicted of a felony.

 

 

Elections will be held on May 12, 2014, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm in the Grady High School auditorium lobby. Each parent/guardian of a student enrolled in the school shall be entitled to one vote for each vacant parent/guardian member position on the Council. Voting will be by secret ballot and parents/guardians will have to present their state or other government issued photo ID to verify eligibility.

The Local School Council meets a minimum of 4 times per school year (typically monthly). It is a legislatively mandated collaborative group of parents, teachers, business partners and the school principal, assembled to address issues related to student achievement and school improvement towards furthering Grady’s record as a center of educational excellence that prepares all students for success.
