The New Alonzo A. Crim Open Campus, 21st Century Learning Center is designed to complement the traditional high school programs of Atlanta Public Schools. The New Crim Open Campus helps to ensure the success of students who may find it difficult, for various reasons, to reach their potential in a traditional setting. Crim Open Campus enables each student to experience accomplishment, a feeling of belonging and confidence in setting goals and making life choices.

July 18, 2014

Dear Crim Family Members,

Hello. I am Dawn M. Parker, your new Principal at the NEW Crim Open Campus, 21st Century Learning Center.  This school has been re-designed to offer our students a customized, academically driven program that is geared towards helping each student graduate ready for Career and/or College. We are proud of the gains that we have made over the past several years, and we look forward to building an even stronger learning environment for our families in the upcoming year.

Our Vision, Mission and Motto are as follows:

To provide students with a circle of support that leads to the development of resilient and empowered students.

To inspire and challenge students to learn, grow and accomplish academic, social and post-secondary goals

"Building Hopes and Dreams"

As we enter into the 2014-2015 school year it will be important for us to work together to ensure that each student is afforded opportunities which live up to these standards. Also, as partners, open and honest communication will be key; therefore, I am including very important dates that will help all of us to have a great start for this New Year. Please consider taking time out of your busy schedules to attend the following:

1)      “Drop In and Meet the New Principal” gathering on July 22, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Media Center. If you are interested in learning more about me, the vision and direction of the school and/or have any questions, please feel free to stop by and chat.

2)      On July 26th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Free Back - to - School Immunizations are offered for APS families at Southside Medical Center, 1046 Ridge Ave. SW Atlanta 30315.

3)      Back to School “Open House” will be held on August 1, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This will be a great opportunity to tour the school, learn about what programs and courses we offer, as well as to ask questions.

4)      August 4, 2014 is the first day of school. Please make sure that your child has all of the necessary paperwork and immunizations to start on day 1.  Please note that the classes offered to your child are 9 weeks in length, so EVERY day counts!

Thank you for allowing me to serve your student at the New Crim Open Campus, 21st Century Learning Center.  Through our partnership together, great things will happen for our students!

    Parents’ Right To Know

    Dear APS Parents and Guardians:

    Welcome back to the 2015-2016 school year.  All schools are required by federal law under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965(ESEA), to let you know about your child’s teachers’ qualifications.  We want you to know that it is your right to request the following information about your child’s teachers’ training and credentials:

    • Whether the teacher met the state requirements from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission for certification for the grade level and subject area which they teach;
    • Whether the teacher is teaching under an emergency or other temporary status through which Georgia qualification or certification criteria have been waived;
    • What undergraduate or graduate degree(s) the teacher holds; including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and major(s) or area(s) of concentration; and whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications.

    Please know that the staff at your child’s school is committed to helping your child reach his or her highest academic potential throughout their school career.  That commitment includes making sure that all of our teachers and paraprofessionals are highly skilled and are providing quality instruction to your child.

    If you wish to request information concerning your child’s teachers’ qualifications, please contact your child’s principal, by phone or email, using the information provided on your school’s website.

  • APS Pilots Online Enrollment System Beginning July 6

    Atlanta Public Schools is piloting during July 6-10, 2015 an online enrollment system that parents can use to enroll new students online, when and where it is most convenient for them, and in just a few minutes.  Parents will have the ability to enter the student’s enrollment information and securely upload documents before visiting the school to finalize enrollment.

    The online enrollment system allows parents to pre-populate their child's enrollment information and confidentially upload scans or PDFs of forms like birth certificates or immunization records to create their preliminary enrollment record. The system also uses the information to determine the student's neighborhood school and can forward it directly to the school or enrollment site.  Parents will then visit the school or enrollment site to complete the process and present residency documents and student documents, such as certified birth certificates, social security cards and immunization records, to staff to review and confirm their authenticity.

  • Infinite Campus Parent and Student Portal

    CPP Login Page:

    Parents of students in grades K–12 have access to class schedules, attendance records and grades by Campus Portal for Parents (CPP) which is an easy-to-use, secure communications tool. Additionally, CPP enables parents to verify household information, including their email address, home address and telephone numbers.
    Contact your child’s school to get your CPP activation key. Parents are required to  request the CPP activation key in person. To ensure that all student information remains secure, parents must provide a valid photo ID (driver’s license, state ID card, or passport) before receiving the CPP activation key.  Once parents receive the activation key, they can visit to create a unique username and password.

  • The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and students who are 18 years of age or older ("eligible students") certain rights with respect to the student's education records.  These rights include the right to provide written consent before the school discloses personally identifiable information (PII) from the student's education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.

    One exception which permits disclosure without consent is disclosure to school officials with legitimate educational interests.  A school official is a person employed by the school as an administrator, supervisor, instructor, or support staff member (including health or medical staff and law enforcement unit personnel) or a person serving on the school board.  A school official also may include a volunteer or contractor outside of the school who performs an institutional service of function for which the school would otherwise use its own employees and who is under the direct control of the school with respect to the use and maintenance of PII from education records, such as an attorney, auditor, medical consultant, or therapist; a parent or student volunteering to serve on an official committee, such as a disciplinary or grievance committee; or a parent, student, or other volunteer assisting another school official in performing his or her tasks.  A school official has a legitimate educational interest if the official needs to review an education record in order to fulfill his or her professional responsibility.

    Also, upon request, the school discloses education records without consent to officials of another school district in which a student seeks or intends to enroll, or is already enrolled if the disclosure is for purposes of the student’s enrollment or transfer.

    For more information about Student Records and disclosures, including directory information, please refer to the Student Handbook, and Board Policy JR and Administrative Regulation JR-1(R).
