Dear Parents/Guardians,

By the time you read this internet newsletter, we will be well on our way into the second nine weeks of the school.  We had a smooth opening to school, and we are back to the business of providing an excellent education for all our students.  We are fortunate to have a dedicated group of parents, teachers, and students working along with us.  In addition, I would like to thank our wonderful parent volunteers who assist us weekly as we try to do our best for our students.

Our Back to School and Title One Nights were huge successes.  Thank you for taking the opportunity to come out and meet with your child’s teachers.  Remember, in order to experience success, we must all work together.

As Principal, I ask that you to become active in our school community.  Parental involvement is a critical factor in your child’s success, so please contact the school if you are interested in volunteering. There are a variety of ways to get involved during the school day and at evening events.  Additionally, I ask that you emphasize to your children that school is important and should be approached daily as such.  We are requesting all parents to speak to your children about the importance of being respectful, adhering to rules and procedures, and completing class and homework assignments on a daily basis. Furthermore, we need your children to participate in our tutorial programs, and we need all children to read at home for a minimum of 30 minutes a day.

I would like to thank everyone for their continuous support of the school-wide uniform initiative.  We have had great participation from our students; however, some students are not adhering to our standard of excellence when it comes to uniforms.  Research shows a direct correlation between student dress and academic achievement.

Please join us as we continue to provide students with a quality education.  This can be accomplished by staying in contact with your child’s teacher, getting your child to school on time and prepared to learn, setting routines, supervising homework, ensuring your child is reading every night, and contacting your child’s teacher if you notice that he/she might be struggling. Additionally, faculty and staff members are working diligently to prepare your students for the new Georgia Milestones End of Grade Assessment that will be administered in the spring of 2015.

Please let me know if I can assist you in any way.  This is going to be another great year for everyone.  Let’s make it happen!! Thank you for your continuous support as we move the needle on student achievement, one student at a time.

Educationally Yours,

Duane Edward Hale
